Real careers

Students playing ccTheRealGame learn that not all careers are equal in terms of financial compensation. If their character is a landscape architect, or a lawyer, or a retail clerk, they receive a pay stub with realistic salaries for their roles.

Real budgeting

Within the constraints of their simulated take home pay, students learn to balance a monthly budget so they can afford the home, car and lifestyle they have chosen. They learn the importance of saving and investing for the future.

Real appreciation

ccTheRealGame gives students a deeper appreciation for the financial challenges their parents face. One grade 8 student put it succinctly when he said: “Tax is a killer and money doesn’t grow on trees.”

Real teamwork

“Students started helping each other balance their budgets! That was a great thing to see!” - Grade 7 Teacher
