When you were a kid, what career did you want to have?
When I was a kid I wanted to be, at various times, a teacher, a doctor, a police officer and a lawyer.
What do you do at Career Cruising?
I am responsible for the ongoing assessment and improvement of all aspects of our clients’ experience. Some of the projects I am involved with include: writing our weekly newsletter and other communications, preparing smooth introductions to new products, designing training programs and providing implementation support.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
People would be surprised to know that I play several musical instruments including trumpet, guitar and violin.
What are you extremely passionate about? Why?
I am extremely passionate about encouraging independence for individuals with disabilities. As someone with a sibling with a developmental disability who has also worked as a developmental service worker, I have seen the difficulties faced by these individuals first-hand. There is still work to be done to create opportunities for everyone to play an important role in building a society that embraces individual abilities.
Which movie have you seen the most times and why?
I have seen the film Amélie several times. It is such a fun film because it celebrates the quirks that make every individual unique. Each time I watch the movie I notice little things that I hadn’t seen before. Plus, it is set in my favourite city, Paris!
